Sankatahara Chaturthi – A Day to Remove Obstacles with Lord Ganesha’s Blessings

 Today, we celebrate Sankatahara Chaturthi, a sacred occasion dedicated to Lord Ganesha—the remover of all obstacles. According to ancient tradition, it is believed that on this auspicious day, Goddess Parvati created a boy from turmeric paste while bathing, breathed life into him, and thus Ganesha was born on Bhadrapada Shukla Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chavithi.
Later, with the blessings of Lord Shiva and the request of great sages, Ganesha was bestowed the title of "Vighna Adhipati"—the Lord of all obstacles. Since then, devotees across the world worship Ganesha especially on Chaturthi Tithi, which occurs twice in every lunar month: once during Shukla Paksha and again during Krishna Paksha (Bahula Chaturthi).
Sankatahara Chaturthi is observed on the Bahula Chaturthi and holds great significance. On this day, devotees revere Lord Ganesha as Sankatamochana Ganapathi, the one who removes all forms of distress and difficulties—be it related to marriage, education, legal matters, or other personal challenges.
Offering even a simple Archana or Puja to Lord Ganesha on this day is believed to yield immense spiritual benefits. It is an opportunity to dissolve obstacles, find inner peace, and receive divine blessings.
